GPA and Finance :)
Over the past week, my career exploration class researched in the Finance cluster. I researched a loan officer and a telemarketer. Both of the careers deal with working well the public. They also require previous knowledge and the majority of the people had a high school diploma. These careers also had some differences. A loan officer works in the finace and administration industry but a telemarketer works in the administration and support service industry. A telemarketer has slower projected growth, but a loan officer has an average projected growth. Finally, a loan officer is going to have to work well with money but a telemarketer is going to have to work well with the public and be persuasive. These two careers taught me that even though two careers are in the same cluster, they may not be identical. (:

Government and Public Administration :)
Yesterday, in my career exploration clase we researched in the government and public administration cluster. I researched a broadcast news analysts and a coroner. Both of these careers are pretty darn similar. For expample, both of these careers have the same projected grwoth average and they deal with informing people. A coroner is going to inform people of somebody's death, just like a broadcast news analyst informs the public of various news articles. Both of these careers also required many years of school. These careers are very alike in different ways, have a goood day! (:

The Class Schedule :)
In my career exploration class, this week was a very busy week. Monday we researched in the education and training cluster. For this cluster, I researched a tutor and a law teacher postsecondary. We always research different clusters to help us find which fields we want to do into after we graudate from high school. On Tuesday, we shared what we had researched in the eduacation and training cluster. That way, if somebody found an interesting career, we could all hear about it. Wednesday we researched in the Ag cluster. A reserached a slaughter/meat packer and a veterinarians. Yesterday, we used our true colors to find out weakness and strengths in various careers with Mr. Heckendorn. I found out my weakness is a surgeon because I don't like blood but my true colors inform me that i like to do hands-on activity. Today we are blogging and telling everybody about our week. Have a good day :)

ARTS :)
In my career exploration class, we searched in the ARTS cluster. I researched a Film and Video Editor and Singer. A film and video editor edits films, videos, and other medias. Sometimes they edit soundtrack images. They make approximately $51,300 per year. Fifty percent of the people in this job had a Bachelor's degree. The other career I researched was a Singer. Singers sing songs on stages, radios, and on TV shows. Most singers had a high school diploma. They make $23.50 per hour. (:

Orangie Orange :)
Yesterday we took a test to show our "true colors." True colors are based on your personailty and how you view things in life. I found out that I am an orange person. Oranges are the type of people to be very active. They are the "hands on" type of people that can never really sit still and be content for long periods of time. Ornages like to try new things and they need lots of space. These characteristics seem to describe me :)

True Colors :)
In my career exploration class today we researched a True Colors assesment. It categorizes what type of person you are based on colors. If you're blue, you are a relaxing and soothing person. If you're gold, you are very well orangized and independent. If you are a green type of person, you a smart person and lastly, if you are an orange person, you take advantage of the little things and live your life. Out of my eight teachers, I chose 4 of them to go along with each category. I think that my math teacher, Mr. Thomas, is a green person because he is very very smart when it comes to math and he is a great teacher. My language arts teacher, Mr. Ogle is a gold person because he is very organized and a great teacher too. My Spanish teacher, Senora Rigdon, is definately an orange person because if you don't pay attention in her class, you will be lost for forever. My last teacher, Mr. Boyars, is a blue person. Mr. Boyars is very relaxed and doesn't show any worry. I also ctegorized my friends. Salem is an orange person because he always makes quick decisions. Sammy is my green friend because he is very smart and knows a lot of random stuff. Andrew is my blue friend because he is relaxed and Sidney is my gold friend because she is very orangized and motivated :)

Spa Manger and License Clerk (:
This week in my Career Exploration class, we researched in the Buisness,Management and Administration cluster. In this cluster I researched a license clerk. I license clerk issues permits ans they obtain information and collect fees. If you want to be a license clerk, you need to be an active listener, crical thinker, a great writer and be a great speaker. While I was researching a license clerk, I had found out the 54% had a high school diploma, 42% had some college but didn't have a degree and 4% of the people had an associates's degree.
The other career I researched was a spa manager. A spa mananger directs spa activies and scheduales the staff. If you want to be a spa mananger, you have to be coordinated, be a great speaker, and be an active listener. When I waas reaserching this career, 47% of the people had some college no degree and 25% of the people had an associates's degree. :)

Learning Styles Inventory [:
After doing a learning styles inventory, I have figured out that I am a tactile learner. A tactile leaner is a person that learns better when it is being demostrated. Some of my teachers demostrate when they are teaching, and some of them don't. I have high grades in the classes that have teachers that do demostrate. Now that I know which type of learner I am, i can make flashcards for the classes I am struggling in. If i'm still not understanding, I can ask the teacher to help me. Taking this learning styles inventory, may help me. (:

Careers :)
The lats two careers I have researched for my Career Exploration class are: Paperhanger and a Cost Estimator. A paperhanger is the person that would hang up wallpaper and fabrics on your walls. Sometimes they even attatch posters to billboards. I don't not want to be a Paperhanger when I graduate from high school and college. A paperhanger seems to be way too boring to me. I don't want to spend my time hanging up wallpaper in stangers homes and buisnesses.
The other career I researched was a Cost Estimator. A Cost Estimator estimates construction projects, and they help esimates bids for different products. Sometimes they specialize in a type of product. I do not want to be a Cost Esimator because I don't want to work with numbers and use math skills every day. But maybe somebody else would like to do these careers. :)

Career Connections :)
In the Human Services cluster this week, i chose a baber and a nanny as my carrers. Of course both of these careers had differences, but they also had similarities. One of those being that they have to work with the public basically all day. Even though they work all day, they don't get paid well. Both of these careers have to have paitence too. If you can't take the time to cut somebody's hair correctly or if you cant take the time to do somebody elses laundry, these jobs won't work well for you. (:

STEM's Explantation
I think that STEM matches with one of the academies at PCHS because STEM stands for Science Technolgy Engineering Mathematics, and the high school offers a lot of those classes. Science, technolgy, engineering, and math are all really important for jobs. Whatever job you choose, you're going to have to know a little bit of everything, but mostly STEM.

Connections :)
While researching different careers in my Career Exploration class, I have learned tons of different informartion. My most recent career that I had researched is an Orthodontist. However, this is not the job I want to continue on once I finish my high school and college education. I would like to do something in the law field. At the very beginning of this year, we did the Law and Public Safety career cluster. In that cluster I researched a Criminal Investigator. Now of course, a Criminal Investigator and an Orthodonist are not really related. But they did share some similar charatceristics. For example, to be in either job, you have to be very dependable. If you can't figure out which tooth is which, you're not going to be a good orthodonitist. Or if you have no patience to solve a case like a Criminal Investigator, your job will get old quick. Both of these Careers also might have to deal with some angry people. Its quite obvious that both careers are different too. Espcially their job discriptions. Mr. Boyars, my teacher, really makes us think about the careers we research. (:
